DHARAMSHALA, June 15: The Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to North America, Penpa Tsering told Tibet TV, official online channel of Tibetan government in exile, that the Tibetan spiritual leader is in ‘excellent health’ and asked not to worry about his health.
“Doctors have expressed that His Holiness continues to be in excellent health and there is no need to worry about his health,” said Penpa Tsering, who was appointed as his representative in May 2016 and took charge of the office from July 2016.
The former speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile also said, “His Holiness is currently at Mayo clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for a routine medical check up and will leave for San Diego tomorrow.”
The Tibetan spiritual leader will be keynote speaker at the UC San Diego’s commencement ceremony on June 17. On June 16, the Dalai Lama is scheduled to to give a public talk on ‘Embracing the Beauty of Diversity in our World’ on June 16 at the university’s RIMAC Field to an estimated 25,000 people.
The two-week US tour also include programs in Orange County, California, a public talk on ‘Caring for the World through Kindness and Compassion’ at Minneapolis and a public talk for the Tibetan Community in Minnesota on 24 June and a day-long meeting with scholars at Boston, Massachusetts on June 25.
The soon to be 82-year-old spiritual leader will return to India on June 26 and he is expected to leave for Ladakh for a six-weeks’ sojourn.
