DHARAMSHALA, May 15: A 28-year-old Tibetan woman wrestler has won gold medal for China in the Women’s 63kg at the Asian Wrestling Championships held at the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar from May 6-10.

Shelok Dolma, (spelt as Xiluo Zhuo Ma), 27, found a late four-point throw against Kanako Murata of Japan to win dramatically by 4-4. Murata had succeeded for five minutes and 45 seconds in defending against Shelok, but with seconds ticking away the Tibetan wrestler was able to convert her throws and earn the gold.

Born to a humble family in the Tibetan region of Nyingtri in Kongpo, Shelok Dolma was selected into the Chinese national wrestling team in 2010.

In 2010, she was selected for the national wrestling competition and also participated in Women’s 67kg World Wrestling competition in Turkey.

Shelok had won gold for China in the Women's Freestyle Wrestling 67 kg class at the World Wrestling Championship in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2011.

She won a gold medal in Women’s 63kg wrestling event at the 12th National Games of China in Shenyang city in 2013.
