OBITUARY - Sri Kul Bhushan Bakshi
BTSM[Tuesday, January 13, 2015 12:22]
1930 - 2015
1930 - 2015
Shri Kul Bushan Bakshi was born on 24th June 1930 and came into contact with Tibet when he was posted in Mandi as Director of Khadi-garam Udyog in 1964/65. He was instrumental in organising a large no of Indians to work for the cause of Tibet and not only its freedom from foreign york but for all round welfare of the Tibetan communities in exile.

His devotion to the cause of Tibet drew him to the top Tibetan leadership, more particularly His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche and many others. He was also instrumental in the formation of Core Group for Tibetan Cause, an apex umbrella organisation of Tibet support groups in India. He remained till his last breath the National Co-convenor of Core Group for Tibetan Cause. His idealism in defectible zeal and untiring work for the Tibetan community is unparallel.

It is a tribute to him that no less a dignitary than His Holiness The Dalai Lama himself was so influenced by his work for the disabled poor people of India that he contributed willingly and freely to this cause.

Mr.Bakshi Ji will always be remembered as one of the staunchest active and devoted supporters of the Tibetan people and for the cause of achieving the ultimate freedom of Tibet. He introduced many innovations with the Tibetans and have perhaps the largest personal following of youth, women and intellectuals whom he turned into debted volunteers for the Tibetan movement. He headed till his last day the organisation called Antarashtriya Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Samiti, based in Meerut.

Shri Bakshi Ji celebrated his 85th Birthday on 24th June this year. He breathed his last at 7.30 AM, January 12, 2015.

He is survived by his wife Mrs.Sundar Bakshi, one son and two daughters.
