Dharamsala : Comic book on Dalai Lama launched
Phayul[Thursday, August 08, 2013 14:01]
DHARAMSHALA, August 7: A comic book on the life of the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama written by veteran journalist and long time friend of Tibet was launched Tuesday at Tibetan Children’s Village Day school in Mcleod Ganj.

Writer Vijay Kranti himself was present at the official launch of the book organized by the Tibetan literary group Tibet Writes. The illustrations for the book is by New York based Tibetan artist Sodhon.

The 74-page book covers the search for the14th Dalai Lama, sino –Tibetan relationship before 1959 and the Tibetan leader’s mysterious escape to India.

The book, Kranti said, is dedicated to the “all those brave Tibetan people who lost lives as a result of colonial suppression during past six decades and to the undying spirit of Tibet support groups across the world.”

Kranti said through his book he wants “to make young Indian students know who is the Dalai Lama, why he is living India, what his country Tibet means, how China occupied Tibet.

“Dalai Lama stands for peace, reconciliation, freedom struggle through non-violence, compassion, universal responsibility and he is the person who is the real need of the hour for the entire world. So, today the world needs to know what Dalai Lama stands for,” explains Kranti on asked why he chose to write the book about the 78 year old Nobel peace laureate.

Vijay Kranti has 8 books to his credit as author, photographer, editor and co-author. These books include a coffee table book Dalai Lama speaks and the Hindi edition of the Dalai Lama’s autobiography My Land and My people.
