DHARAMSHALA, August 2: The Central Tibetan Administration will hold a special prayer service to mark the “successful completion” of two years in office by Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay and his cabinet. Prayer services will also be held in the various Tibetan communities around the globe on August 8, the day the incumbent Tibetan Prime Minister took oath of office in 2011.

A circular issued by the Central Tibetan Administration on July 31 said, “the prayer service aims to express gratitude to Holiness the Dalai Lama’s blessings, guidance of Tibet’s spiritual protectors, unwavering faith and support of the Tibetan people, and dedication of civil servants of the Central Tibetan Administration, for their collective efforts in successfully carrying forward the Tibetan cause since Sikyong took office, and all those Tibetans who have self-immolated for the cause of Tibet since 2009.”

The Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama, at a recent teaching at Drepung monastery in Mungod Tibetan Settlement, asked his followers to recite the heart sutra (Sherab Nyingpo), Phagtoe and a thousand mani a day during his three weeks’ meditational retreat in Ladakh starting August 1.

Following the Dalai Lama’s call for prayers, thousands of Tibetans in Kardze and other parts of eastern Tibet have taken part in religious and other meritorious activities.

Tibetan Youth Congress, the largest pro-independence group in exile will hold a prayer service on August 16 for all the self-immolators and for the benefit of the Tibet’s cause. Simultaneous prayer services will be organized by the regional chapters of the organization.
