DHARAMSHALA, May 23: The exile Tibetan administration has announced the appointment of a new representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for North America and the reshuffle of two Europe based Representatives.
In a change of positions, the incumbent Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Switzerland, Tseten Samdup will take over as the Representative for Brussels with effect from August 2, 2013, while Ngodup Dorjee, the incumbent Brussels representative will take over as Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Switzerland from August 9, 2013.
In a fresh appointment, Kaydor Aukatsang has been appointed as the new Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for North America. He will be taking over charge from incumbent Representative Lobsang Nyandak from September 1, 2013.
Kaydor Aukatsang is currently the Advisor to Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay, the elected head of the Tibetan people, and Special Coordinator on Development for the Kashag Secretariat. Formerly, he served as president of the Tibetan Association of Northern California and Development Director at the Natural Capital Institute and as a Philanthropic Advisor with the Tides Foundation.
The Dharamshala based Central Tibetan Administration further announced that Lhakpa Tsokho will temporarily continue his term as Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for East Asia until November 2013 in order to oversee preparations for the Dalai Lama’s visit to Japan later this year. Lhakpa Tsokho’s term as Representative for East Asia expires on June 1, 2013.
With the complete devolution of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s formal authority to the elected leadership in 2011, the constitutional authority to appoint Representatives, earlier vested with the Dalai Lama was delegated to the Kashag (cabinet).
Offices of Tibet are the official agencies of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration. OoTs are present in 11 countries across the world.
