A Poetry Book by a Tibetan Artist launched

New York, Jan 18 - Tenzing Rigdol’s book of poems “R” The Frozen Ink was launched yesterday at Tibet House, New York City, by TibetWrites in association with Students for a Free Tibet.

Over a hundred Tibetans and friends of Tibet, attended the event, which featured poetry readings by Tenzin Rigdol and Bhuchung D. Sonam, and solo performance by flautist Lekden, songs by Tenzin Dorji, Tsering Dolker and Lobsang Choephel. Former political prisoner Ngawang Sangdol read words of a song she and other members of the singing nuns of Drapchi sang in prison.

The poet, Tenzin Rigdol, donated 400 copies of the book to Students for a Free Tibet and 300 to Tibet Writes. The proceeds form the sale of the book will benefit the two organizations.

Rigdol is a former student of Tibetan Children’s Village, Dharamsala, and currently resides in New York. He runs his own art studio and has featured at the Rubin Museum, New York, and several other art exhibitions.
