New Delhi, July 15 - Around 200 Tibetans from Majnu Ka Tilla and Budh Vihar took part in a solidarity march from Samtha Sthal to the Jantar Mantar observatory walking a distance of some six kilometers yesterday.
This was followed by illustrious speeches from associates of the Indian as well as Tibetan community. Prominent guest speakers included Member of the Indian Parliament Brij Bhushan Tiwari and Former General Secretary of ABVP Shri Ramesh Pappa among other representatives of the Himalayan Parivaar and Indian supporters.
Members of Parliament from the Tibetan Government in Exile who addressed the crowd were Penpa Tsering, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok and Choekyong Wangchuk.
The day was observed as a mark of solidarity and commonality with the continued sufferings of those in Tibet. Tibetans from the local settlements have been protesting peacefully since March 14 with an ongoing relay hunger strike, slogan raising, chanting sutras and lighting hundreds of butter lamps each day.
