Mega Concert for Tibet in Bern
By Email[Friday, July 11, 2008 14:51]
His Holiness the Dalai Lama'a birthday was celebrated in Switzerland on July 6 with a mega concert by Swiss artist Polo Hofer, the Swiss Jazz Orchestra, the Young Gods, and Tibetan musician Loten Namling also the initiator and co-organizer of the event, among other musicians. Judith and Pola from the Famous German Band, Wir SindHelden were flown in as special guests of the day. Despite heavy down pour of rain, thousands came to support Tibet at the event that took place in front of the Bundes Platz, the main Swiss government building in Bern.

It was the biggest ever open air concert in which ten thousand spectators cheered the thirteen famous Swiss bands who sang for Tibet and showed their solidarity with the Tibetan cause. Under the label of Swiss Artists For Tibet, the organizers and performers jointly urged the Swiss Government to have a clear and critical stand on China's brutal policy in Tibet.

The Dalai Lama thanked the organizers and the Swiss artists for their unwavering support for Tibet in a special message sent to them.
