Tibetan Youth Storms Chinese Embassy in London
By Email[Saturday, March 15, 2008 12:58]
China must stop its brutal aggression on Tibetan people

London, March 14 - 100 Tibetans and their supporters, including four former Tibetan nun political prisoners, gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in London to show their support to the latest political protests being held across Tibet.

In London, several Tibetan Youth tried to storm the Chinese Embassy but the British police immediately restraint the angry activists.

Whilst unconfirmed reports initially suggest the killing of 100 Tibetans in Tibet, the London protesters shouted "Free Tibet", "Tibet Belongs to Tibetans" and "Stop the Killings in Tibet", which could easily be heard inside the walls of Chinese Embassy.

Karma Chura-Tsang, Director of Tibetan Youth UK said, "We come here to protest the ongoing illegal occupation of our country by Communist China. We are very concerned with the present situation in Tibet" and added, "We are united in our common struggle. China must stop the aggression on our people in Tibet right now. We demand the immediate release of all arrested Tibetans."

Following the spreading of peaceful protests across Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Friday said, "These protests are a manifestation of the deep-rooted resentment of the Tibetan people under the present governance. As I have always said, unity and stability under brute force is at best a temporary solution. It is unrealistic to expect unity and stability under such a rule and would therefore not be conducive to finding a peaceful and lasting solution."

Calling for an international community's support, Tenzin Samphel, Chairperson of Tibetan Community in Britain said, "We call upon the International Community, especially the British Government, to put pressure on the Chinese Government to commit to dialogue to find real solution to the Tibetan issue peacefully."

The protest ended with a prayer, composed by the Dalai Lama, Dhen-tsig Monlam (The Prayer of Truth). The Tibetan Youth UK, who organised today's peaceful gathering are planning further protests in the coming days and weeks.

The organisers also dedicate this special protest to show solidarity with those Tibetans who are taking part in "Return to Tibet Peace March" from India.
