Mexico City, March 14 - This morning the members of the support group "Pensando en Tibet, Mexico City" showed their solidarity with Tibetans. A month ago, the group was invited to join the Human Rights Torch that would arrive to Mexico City today, March 14th. Aware of the difficulties the group has had in spreading the word about Tibet around Mexico, they saw the Human Rights Torh as a great opportunity to expose the Tibetan issue.

With the main mass media invited to witness the arrival of the torch today, the group decided to shared with every one during the press conference the news received from Lhasa during the past days. The group spoke about the brutality with which the Chinese government has been treating Tibetans during the past 50+ years, they spoke about the lack of religious freedom, and the systematic violation of Human Rights. They also mentioned arrests in India, and the protests in Lhasa.

Additionally, Amnesty International, also present in the press conference, read a few lines regarding to the current situation in Tibet.

Once the press conference was over, the group took over the streets of the famous avenue "Reforma" right under the statue of the "Independence Angel" to display their banner and Tibetan flags. The banner read "Stop to the Chinese invasion in Tibet". Needless to say that if not all the media, at least some of the main papers will address the situation in Tibet.

The supports groups in Mexico, Central and South America are concerned about what is going on in Lhasa these days. They definitely feel deep, for those inside Tibet and for all Tibetans around the globe. All groups throughout Latin America have started mobilizing to issue letters, to do small protests and to do whatever they can to spread the word about what happens in Lhasa.

This is just the beginning, and we, in this side of the world, will keep on working to support Tibetans. Tibetans inside and outside Tibet, are definitely not alone.
