Dharamsala February 22: Tibetans in Rebkong, Amdo in eastern Tibet staged a mass agitation against the Chinese authorities earlier today.

The Tibetans were protesting the arbitrary arrest of some 200 Tibetans yesterday.

The Great Prayer Festival or the Monlam Chenmo, which began in Rebkong on February 12 was to conclude today with festivities and rituals.

A Cham dance (ritual dance performed by monks) was forced to be cancelled in the aftermath of the incidents in Rebkong.

Sources say that some of the men arrested yesterday were released but many are still under detention by the Chinese authorities.
