Dharamsala, July 7: His Holiness the Dalai Lama began teaching on Je Tsongkhapa’s “The Principle Path to Enlightenment” [Tib: Jangchup Shoonglam] this morning at the Tsuglagkhang (Main Temple).

The seven-day teaching will also be supplemented by Bestowing Bodhisattva Vow (Jamdom Bokjog).

The teaching will go on till the 13th of this month and is being held at the request of the Bliss and Wisdom Monastery in Taiwan.

760 Taiwanese registered for the teaching and hundreds of audiences, including Tibetan monks, nuns and lay people, and several non-Tibetan tourists are seen attending the first day teaching.

The exiled Tibetan leader turned 72 yesterday and an elaborate birthday celebrations with a grand official function at the Tsuglagkhang courtyard were held here yesterday.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Birthday [Tib: Trungkhar] is one of the biggest celebrated events for Tibetans in a year.
