Dharamsala, November 30 - Under-Secretary of State for Global Affairs and Democracy and U.S. Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues Paula Dobriansky, accompanied by a small delegation team, arrived here in Dharamsala, the exile Tibetan administrative capital, yesterday for a two days’ visit.

The group was extended a warm welcome in traditional Tibetan manner by the local Tibetan representatives on their arrival.

Although nothing could be confirmed of the purpose of her visit; she paid a quick visit to Upper Tibetan Children’s Village School and later met briefly with representatives from prominent Tibetan non-governmental organisations yesterday.

Kalon Tempa Tsering, Minister for the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), who is expected to attend the delegation-team all during the visit, refused to comment on the nature and purpose of the visit.

Dobriansky and her visiting team today had a private audience with the exiled Tibetan leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, in the morning before their scheduled meeting with the Senior Diplomats of the CTA.

The delegation is due to leave Dharamsala later in the evening today.
