Tibetans protest Hu’s visit
newindpress.com[Wednesday, November 22, 2006 13:05]
BHUBANESWAR: The Tibetan refugees in Orissa on Tuesday took to the streets here to protest President of China Hu Jintao’s visit to the country. They called upon the Indian Government to persuade Hu to have a dialogue with their spiritual leader Dalai Lama, who heads the Tibetan Government in exile at Dharmasala in Himachal Pradesh.

The members, who staged the rally under Tibetan Women’s Association, urged the Centre to voice its objection over the imprisonment of Panchem Lama Gendhun Choe-Kyi Nyima and press for his immediate release along with other political prisoners.

The Chinese Government has also failed to respond to the Dalai Lama’s repeated appeal to sit over the negotiation table, the members said.
