Miss Tibet Tsering Chungtak has landed in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, to participate in the Miss Earth pageant.

She is among close to 90 deserving candidates from all over the world vying for the coveted title. The Coronation Night will be on Sunday, 26 November 2006, and will be held at the grounds of the National Museum in Manila.

Miss Earth draws attention towards global environmental issues. This year's pageant will focus on global warming. Each contestant will have a message to save the environment and make a stand against pressing issues concerning the environment.

Ramon S. Monzon, the President of Carousel Productions and organiser of the pageant, feels proud to see that Miss Earth attracts so many young women who want to get involved in the pageant's environmental mission. "It proves the youth today want to make a difference."

Through the candidates' campaign, the pageant, now in the sixth year of its production, hopes to educate people as to the simple steps they can take to cut global warming pollution.

This year, 12 more countries are participating in the pageant for the first time. These are Botswana, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Georgia, Guadeloupe, Ireland, Liberia, Lithuania, Republic of Congo, Sudan, Tibet, and Wales.

Chokhor Tours and Travels and Kalden Dorjee Aukatsang producing Auka designs line of clothing and accessories, both based in Delhi, partly sponsored Tsering Chungtak's trip to Manila.
