46th Democracy Day celebrated in Delhi

New Delhi,September 2-The 46th Democracy day was celebrated today here at Tibetan Day School in Majnu Ka Tila by the exile Tibetans and their friends in Delhi. The official function began at 10 AM with a great festive mood. Tibetan Butter tea and Daysee (Rice with butter and dry fruits) acted as an appetizer for the public as the function began.

Kasur Tempa Tsering, representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi, was the chief guest for the function. Also present at the function were Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Mr.Dorjee Dewatsang and Miss. Youdon Aukatsang, the members of the exile Tibetan Parliament, Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies. Many other senior official members were also present.

The official function started with Tibetan and Indian National Anthem followed by various speeches by the dignitaries. Tibetan Welfare Officer of Samyeling Tibetan Colony, Mr. Lhakpa Tsering gave the introduction speech outlining the importance of the day for the Tibetan people in Exile. He added few more lines for the Tibetan youths and their parents. He said that “Parents should help their children to maintain discipline from undesirable behaviors.”

Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok also spoke on behalf of the ATPD and expressed his administration’s gratitude for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s overpowering service to his people and opening up the wide awareness of importance of a democratic government.

Shri Pralad Singh Saini,MLA Delhi, made his presence in the middle of the function and also added few lines to the gathering. He showed his deep concerns towards the Tibetan people and stretched his hands to help the Tibetan people whenever the need arises.

The function concluded with cultural songs and dance performances by the Students of Tibetan Day School which the audiences thoroughly enjoyed. The lunch was served for everyone present there after the function.
