Uruguay Tibet supporters observe World Tibet day
Phayul[Monday, July 10, 2006 10:41]
The Uruguay chapter of Friends of Tibet organisation held its first World Tibet Day on July 6, the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. the group organized an exhibition of photographs titled "Story of a Nation", depicting the story of Tibet as an independent nation, the Chinese occupation and the life in exile.

The fact that the event was very first from the group and that a lot of people in Uruguay were still not aware of Tibet issue, the group said it did well as quite a considerable number of people turned up to view the exhibition.

The group considered it very important to spread awareness about Tibet and hence, they handed leaflets to every visitor, and let them read about what's happening in Tibet, and what they could do to help stop it.

Most people left the exhibit surprised, because they had ignored most of the facts shown in the exhibition.
