Tibetan filmmakers announce new feature film
Phayul[Monday, July 03, 2006 12:50]
After their whirlwind tour in India, the United States, Canada, Nepal and Bhutan for the screenings of their first fim, ‘Phun Anu Thanu’, the director duo of Tibet Motion Pictures & Arts are set to start shooting for their next venture - a film about four exile youth and their aspiration to win a drama competition in Dharamsala. The film will be shot almost entirely in Dharamsala where the story is set.

The latest project titled Richard Gere is My Hero, say the directors, Tashi Wangchuk and Tsultrim, will be different from their previous film and has an interesting mix of humor, turns and sensibilities with a universal touch.

The title might tempt many cinemagoers but hollywood actor Richard Gere's presence in the feature film is limited to just being the object of adulation and worship of his on-screen die-hard fan Nyima, one of the two protagonists in the new film. The storyline revolves around the two lead actors falling in love with the same girl and how they strive hard to win the heart of their ladylove. Gere is but just a name in the title.

The main actors for the film has been finalised and some of the artistes from the Dharamsala-based Tibetan Institue of performing Arts are also involved the project. The team had also visited Delhi several times to find film technicians for the project.
