TibetNet[Tuesday, November 22, 2005 23:26]
Dharamshala - The judicial conference of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission (SJC) began today morning at the Gangkyi hall and will conclude tomorrow evening. This is the third judicial conference of the SJC since its inception.

Speaking at the inaugural of the judicial conference, the Chief Justice Commissioner (CJC), Namgyal Tsering Dralnang, said that the SJC, established in 1992, is the youngest of the three organs of the democratic exile Tibetan polity.

He said that the Commission was newly established when the first judicial conference was held. During that conference, they discussed on the charter of Tibetan in exile, composition of the SJC, etc.

The second conference focused on the identification of the judicial problems and their solutions. It was also decided in that conference to give the judicial training prior to the conference.

During the third judicial conference, the participants will discuss how to explore ways and means to create awareness of the objectives of the Tibetan Judiciary in exile, to identify challenges facing the Tibetan SJC in exile and its redressal and to elicit any other suggestions for the betterment of common cause.

The conference was attended by over 100 participants, comprising over 40 local justice commissioners, along with circuit justice commissioner, advocates and others.
