Ninth North American Kagyu Monlam concludes: Video
[Monday, June 11, 2018 20:33]
DHARAMSHALA, JUNE 11: The 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorjee blessed the Marme Monlam prayers to conclude the ninth North American Kagyu Monlam at the Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday.

The highlight of the event was that singers and performers from Tibet shared stage with those in exile, making it a historic event for many among the audience. "I am so moved by just seeing the singers from Tibet performing right in front of my eyes and also those former artistes of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts performing at this historic venue," said Tenzin Saldon, a Tibetan living in Elmhurst, Queens.

The young Karmapa led a prayer offering and performed monlam (prayer) to officially close the ninth North American Kagyu Monlam.

The 5500 capacity Hulu theatre at the Madison Square Garden was packed to the full.
