Better late than never - McLeod Ganj received its first snow fall of the winter causing some inconvenience to traffic and pedestrians. However, Dharamsala is dependent on snowfall for its water, and snowfall is usually seen as a rescue from summer's water shortage problem. Phayul photo/Phuntsok Chomphel
A worker at a Beijing office checks stories and photos of the Dalai Lama on the Google China search (Google.cn) page. Google has threatened to pull out of China after a series of cyber attacks originating from that nation. This week the company announced it would stop censoring Google.cn and within hours it lifted its own self-censorship policy in China thereby allowing Chinese internet users for the first time to access "taboo" topics like the Dalai Lama, the Tiananmen massacre and the Falun Gong. In his address to the Dalai Lama, Fini expressed "solidarity and closeness to him and to the Tibetan people," Agenzia Italia reported.

"The Chamber of Deputies is attentively and with some concerns following what is happening in Tibet," AGI Fini told the Tibetan leader.

The Dalai Lama arrived in Italy's Parliament in Rome today to attend the Fifth World Parliamentarian's Convention on Tibet to be held today at the Lower House of Parliament.

The Tibetan leader was received by Fini in the hall of the Montecitorio Library.

The two held a private meeting lasting for over half an hour, at which Fini's partner, Elisabetta Tulliani, was also present, AGI's report said.

Over 100 Parliamentarians from 28 countries and 18 members of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile are expected to attend the two-day convention on Tibet organised by the Italian Parliamentary Intergroup for Tibet.

The Dalai Lama and Fini are both scheduled to address the convention.
