DHARAMSHALA, March 18: Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) announced a collective lifelong offering ceremony (tenshug) to His Holiness, an existing plan further consolidated by the predictions of Nechung oracle during its annual consultation on the 10th day of Losar.

The press conference held to announce the tenshug was presided over by the CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay and the Kashag Secretary Mr Topgyal Tsering at the Kashag Secretariat.

The tenshug, according to the prediction, would secure the wellbeing of His Holiness, who according to Tibetan astrology is facing his “hurdle year” and for the life force of Tibetan National struggle.

“CTA was blessed to have been able to offer a preliminary tenshug last year at Bodhgaya,” said the president.

The Nechung endorsed Tenshug will take place on the auspicious lunar date of the 3rd month and 14th day of the Tibetan lunar calendar, corresponding to May 17 in Gregorian calendar.

In keeping with the oracle’s recommendation for the participation of all Tibetans, the public is requested to make a monetary contribution of 5.25 each of their respective currencies through the Settlement Offices or the Offices of Tibet to reach the Department of Religion and Culture by May 1, 2019. Those wishing to contribute more than the sum requested are free to do so.

Sikyong, in his address to the press after the reading of the official statement by the Secretary, said, “We have received the nod from His Holiness for the tenshug but it remains important that we follow and implement his advice in our daily lives in wishing for a long life of His Holiness.”

A tenshug preparatory committee, already in place, is expected to issue further communication to the general public.
