Dalai Lama Ends Tour of Ithaca
AP[Thursday, October 11, 2007 18:55]
Ithaca, N.Y. - More than 1,500 people converged on downtown Ithaca Wednesday to see the Dalai Lama during his second day of public appearances in the upstate university town.

The exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader gave an uplifting message of peace and unity at the State Theatre, flanked by a crowd of 45 other religious and community leaders.

The Dalai Lama spoke for about 15 minutes, urging the crowd to share experiences with people of different faiths to help establish common human values.

He stressed that since the September 11 terrorist attacks and the bloodshed connected to Muslim extremists, it's even more important to understand the truth and peace in the Muslim religion.

The Dalai Lama wrapped up his two-day visit with an address at Ithaca College examining the history and principles of Buddhism.
