DHARAMSHALA, March 14: The Chinese government on Tuesday strongly refuted the exiled spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s assertion that his reincarnation will be born outside China, reaffirming its stance once again that the process of selecting the next Dalai Lama must adhere to Beijing’s laws and directives.
In his newly released book, Voice for the Voiceless: Over Seven Decades of Struggle With China for My Land and My People, the 89-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader stated unequivocally that his successor will be born in a “free world” to continue his work, rejecting China’s long-standing claim of authority over Tibetan Buddhist reincarnation, particularly that of the Dalai Lama.
In response, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning at a press briefing said that Dalai Lama is a “political exile engaged in separatist activities under the guise of religion. He is a splittist. The 14th Dalai Lama has no right to represent the Tibetan.”
Ning further stressed that the Dalai Lama’s lineage, status, and title have been determined by the government in China for “hundreds of years,” asserting that Beijing will choose his successor when the time comes. “The reincarnations of living Buddhas, including the Dalai Lama, should abide by national laws and regulations, follow religious rituals… (and be subject to) the approval of the central government,” she stated.
The octogenarian leader, in his new book, stated that “Since the purpose of a reincarnation is to carry on the work of the predecessor, the new Dalai Lama will be born in the free world so that the traditional mission of the Dalai Lama — that is, to be the voice for universal compassion, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, and the symbol of Tibet embodying the aspirations of the Tibetan people — will continue.”
The Dalai Lama further wrote, “Unless the recognition of the next Dalai Lama is done through traditional Tibetan Buddhist methods, no acceptance should be given by the Tibetan people or Tibetan Buddhists across the world to a candidate chosen for political purposes by anyone, including those in the People’s Republic of China.”
China has consistently insisted that the reincarnation of Tibetan spiritual figures must be sanctioned by the Communist Party. In 2007, Beijing enacted State Religious Affairs Bureau Order No. 5, which stipulates that all reincarnations of Tibetan Buddhist lamas must receive government approval, effectively giving the Party control over the selection process. The policy has been widely condemned by the exile Tibetan government known officially as the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) as an attempt to co-opt Tibetan religious traditions for political ends.
Tibetan political leader President Penpa Tsering has strongly criticized Beijing’s stance on reincarnation, stating, “The Chinese government is not bothered by the living 14th Dalai Lama, but they are more concerned about the yet-to-come 15th Dalai Lama.” His administration, the 16th Kashag (Cabinet), reaffirmed Tibet’s position on the matter by releasing an official statement titled Position on the Issue of Reincarnation of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on September 29, 2022. The Position Paper directly counters China’s so-called Management Measures for the Reincarnation of Living Buddhas in Tibetan Buddhism, or Order No. 5, reinforcing the Tibetan people’s right to determine the issue of reincarnation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama without external interference.

It is extremely absurd for China’s Communist Party wants to select the reincarnations of the Tibetan Lamas, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama. CCP does not believe in any religion, let alone the reincarnations; they are totally ignorant. Remember what Mao had said, “Religion is the opium of the people.” For CCP to select Tibetan Buddhist reincarnations is like North Korea’s Kim jong Ill selecting the next Pope of the Vatican. It is laughable and absurd.
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tibetan Buddhist leadership and the Tibetan people have the sole authority to select the next Dalai Lama, no one else. No need to worry about the reincarnation now. Long live His Holiness the Dalai Lama!
Communist China is an anti-Dalai Lama, anti-Buddhist, anti-religious and anti-Tibet fascist atheist State! As followers of Karl Marx, Lenin, Stalin and mad Mao, it regards religion as opium of the people! When it invaded Tibet, the greatest priority was given to destroy every monastery, stupa, prayer flags and any symbol of religion was banned and religious people like the monks and nuns bore the brunt of Chinese communist madness of vandalism and destruction! They peddled lies about the Dalai Lama as being a “theocratic despot” and Tibetan Buddhism as a “tool to oppress the people”!!! The Chinese communists claimed to have “liberated” the Tibetans from the “theocratic rule of the Dalai Lama”!!!!! Yet, after 66 years, the evil and dirty Chinese communists turned their own propaganda on its head and now they are scrambling to get a hand on the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation! This goes to show the scale of lies the evil regime is capable of peddling and now the new lie is, that they have dug up some historical instances in order to justify laying their dirty hands on the Dalai Lama reincarnation. Every word the Chinese communists claim is an utter lie!!! They have no respect for history, no respect for the sanctity of religion and religious persons such as the Dalai Lama. They seem to think that whatever they say is somehow going to be believed by the rest of world. They illegally occupied Tibet with a lie! Now, they are lying through their teeth about the reincarnation of the political and religious leader of Tibet! The Dalai Lama’s reincarnation is purely a religious belief and has nothing to do with anybody EXCEPT THE DALAI LAMA HIMSELF! He is a Bodhisattva and has the power to be born where ever it is conducive to work for the wellbeing of sentient beings! The Tibetan Government in Lhasa left it to the Ganden Phodrang or the Institution of the Dalai Lama to find out the reincarnation. This is with every Lama who reincarnates. The བླ་བྲང་ Institution of the Lama takes responsibility to find their Lama and nobody else! The Chinese are bringing the so called golden urn to get its evil hand in the reincarnation process. They must first know, the Manchus were devout Buddhists. Owing to this reason, just like people drink in gold or silver cups to celebrate special occasions, one of the Manchu emperor offered such a cup to treat the process of the throwing the lotto to look for the reincarnation as a special Occassion. There was nothing else than that. In fact Tibet used the so called golden urn only once during the time it was first offered! It was never used again. However, the fascist Chinese communist regime is now distorting this as having the “right” to choose the Dalai Lama!!!! We Tibetans have a saying when such nonsense is uttered without shame! We say, I laughed from my asshole!!! གད་མོ་རྐུབ་ནས་ཤོར་སོང་ The Chinese claim makes every Tibetan laugh from their asshole! To lay claim over the choice of such a holy being by a murderous, violent killer regime who has no respect for the Dalai Lama is the most contemptible blasphemy! This regime is a fascist in every sense of the word because it manufactures lies with out any sense of shame! The Dalai Lamas return to help His devotees to achieve liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth. There is no reason for him to return to his haters such as the CCP! He has rightly said that he will be born outside China and occupied Tibet in late 1980s after an interview with Indian senior journalist and Tibet supporter Mr Vijay Kranti and reiterated it recently in his latest book! That interview is published in his photographic book, “THE NOBEL LAUREATE SPEAKS”!!! The Dalai Lama has consistently said He will be born in the free world! He has given solid reasons to do so. Unbeknownst to the boofhead Chinese communist thugs, even the Buddha first checked where and in what caste he would be born in order offer maxim benefit to sentient beings. The Buddha chose the time he would be born, what caste he would be born and at what place he would be born and which mother he would be born etc. སངས་རྒྱས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་མ་འཁྲུངས་གོང་ གཟིགས་པ་ལྔ་ལ་སོགས་ཡོད་པ་འདི་ལྟར་ དུས་ལ་གཟིགས་པ་ རིགས་ལ་གཟིགས་པ་ ཡུམ་ལ་གཟིགས་པ་ གནས་ལ་གཟིགས་པ་ ཁམས་ལ་གཟིགས་པ་སོགས་ཡོད་ In the same manner the Dalai Lama will decide all the aspect mentioned above and then reborn according to HIS OWN CHOICE!!! ITS THE DALAI LAMA HIMSELF WHO MAKES THE CHOICE LIKE THE BUDDHA BEFORE HIM WHO DECIDES AND NOBODY ELSE! THE COMMUNIST CHINESE RAM ROTTING IN SACRED MATTERS goes to show the utter lack of RESPECT FOR BUDDHIST BELIEF SYSTEM and TOTAL IGNORANCE OF SACROSANCT NATURE OF REBIRTH SYSTEM OF LAMAS IN TIBETAN BUDDHISM! INSTEAD OF SHOWING RESPECT, IT IS RUNNING AMUCK LIKE A MAD BULL CHARGING THE RED RAG! The communist regime treats it as some mundane matter that can be decided by mere mortals!
