DHARAMSHALA, Jan. 10: Chinese authorities have imposed restrictions on Tibetan volunteers and social organizations from providing rescue and relief efforts to earthquake-affected areas without obtaining official permission. The government has cited “harsh winter conditions, high altitude, low oxygen levels, and remote locations” as reasons for limiting access to the disaster-hit regions.

The announcement was made in a video statement posted on the social media platform X on Thursday under the account name Sakar Tashi. “The earthquake-affected areas experience extreme cold during the winter. The area is also remote. We have enough rescue teams in operation. That’s why non-governmental organisations and volunteers need permission from Chinese authorities to visit the affected areas,” stated a Chinese Communist Party official.

The deadly earthquake, which struck Dingri County in Shigatse Prefecture, Tibet, on Tuesday morning, registered a magnitude of 7.1 on the Richter scale. It has killed over 125 people, injured hundreds, and caused extensive damage to infrastructure. Social media posts suggest that many remote villages remain inaccessible, leaving survivors in dire need of assistance. While the Chinese government has deployed state-approved aid teams, there has been a surge of local Tibetan volunteers attempting to deliver essential supplies and services to the disaster-hit areas.

The restriction measures have sparked widespread criticism from exiled Tibetans on social media. “It’s appalling and inhumane that the CCP restricts Tibetan social organisations and volunteers from aiding disaster-hit areas. Even after a deadly earthquake, Tibetans continue to suffer, with no human rights in occupied Tibet. The CCP never fails to make their lives harder, controlling every aspect of their existence. How much more must our Tibetan brothers and sisters endure? The world must wake up to this ongoing injustice,”  wrote a netizen on social media X.

“It’s deeply troubling that the CCP is obstructing Tibetan organisations and volunteers from providing crucial aid to earthquake victims. Tibetans, already living under constant oppression, face even more hardship with no human rights in occupied Tibet. The regime continues to tighten its control, turning a blind eye to their suffering. How much longer must Tibetans endure this cruelty? The international community must stand up for Tibet’s rights and demand an end to this inhumane treatment,” another netizen wrote.

  1. Despite the severe restrictions imposed by the Chinese authorities from providing any assistance, masses of individual volunteers and social organisations from different parts of Tibet flocked to provide rescue services and relief funds to the victims of the recent tragic earthquake devastated areas of Dingri County and the surrounding regions of Shigatse Prefecture of Tibet has shown the unbreakable bond of strong kindred spirit of བོད་ཆོལ་ཁ་གསུམ is stronger than ever.

  2. It is fucking damn shame on China’s Communist Party to obstruct desperately needed aid to the earthquake affected areas in Dhingri and the surrounding areas.

Look! how our brothers and sisters are in Tibet, trying their best to help the victims of devastating earthquake in Dhingri. My heart-felt salute and thanks to them. May their efforts be successful so that the earthquake victims get the necessary help they desperately needed.

The International Community must condemn the heartless and shameful obstructions of the CCP. Damn you! May the Agu Sange Choegyal give you, the CCP members, deserved punishments in the burning hell. Be strong and keep hope alive; our brothers and sisters in Dhingri, Tibet; help is on the way, and you will be fine.

  3. There is great discrepancy between the exile Tibetan publics perception of the CCP and the reality! Most exiles have nurtured a rather holistic attitude towards the CCP owing to the Dalai Lama’s high philosophy of “we are all same” attitude. The Dalai Lama is an exceptional human being which has no comparison with the rest of humanity! Owing to his training of pure perception, (དག་སྣང་) he sees every sentient being as loving and caring! It dispels any notion of evil sentient being but only unfettered love and compassion in the form of having been our mother in past lives! However, the ground reality is, there is evil on earth and there are evil beings among the sentient beings. The communists in general and especially, Chinese communism is the most violent and savage ideology that human kind has embraced. All other despots and tyrants like Temur, the Huns, Stalin and Adolf Hitler pails in comparison to the Chinese communist regime! It has killed 80 million people in its short span of rule over China and other occupied territories such as Tibet. Even the most despised Adolf Hitler the 20th century‘s evil comes only a poor second to the colossal murder committed by the CCP since 1949! During the great Tibetan National Uprising Day of 10th March of 1959, it murdered 87,000 Tibetans by its own admission in documents ceased by Tibetan guerrillas in Mustang. Human life means nothing to the regime. Justice does not exist in its ideology. The ultimate arbiter is violence and intimidation! It doesn’t accept any other ideology nor the authority of anyone accept itself. International laws, human rights laws, maritime laws and religious laws and human decency and empathy means nothing to this regime! It’s only goal is the survival of the cultist party. Therefore, everything must be done by the cult and those who are out of the purview of the cult is not acceptable! Whether it’s the Yushul earthquake, Dingri earthquake or the corona virus epidemic tragedy, no ordinary people are allowed to help fellow human beings because it threatens the authority of the CCP. When there was calamitous events in China such as flooding or the devastating Wuhan virus epidemic, the CCP didn’t allow other citizens to help other suffering citizens. Even though the CCP could not cope with the sheer enormity of the challenge and people were dying, the CCP didn’t allow ordinary citizens to help fellow citizens who were in desperate need! That’s the cruel nature of the CCP! It would rather let die those who are affected by tragedy than risk other ordinary people to help the victims! In Tibet, the CCP detest monks and nuns helping fellow Tibetans because it is jealous of the public respecting the Buddhist clergy. When Chinese doctor Li Wenliang warned of the existence of the Wuhan coronavirus, instead of taking his warning seriously, he was accused of “spreading rumour” and warned of dire consequences if he doesn’t shut himself up! The result was millions of people died worldwide owing to the CCP’s obtrusive controlling habit that prevented the existence of the virus and take preventative measures! Later, when many Chinese acknowledged his contribution in warning of the danger of virus and offered flowers at the door of the hospital where he died, the CCP again disallowed such public show of support and acknowledgement because he didn’t represent the CCP! The CCP doesn’t allow anybody to be honoured or acknowledged for their contribution to society unless it’s one of them! It has to be somebody who represent the CCP, so it can claim credit. Some Tibetans who have opened school in occupied Tibet told me that they are paying the money for the school but all the credit is taken by the CCP! This is how the CCP takes credit for everything to garnish its image to prolong its rule! However, it does not have any accountability. Anything that goes wrong is blamed on a scape- goat! Mao was responsible for the destruction and mayhem of the cultural revolution but the CCP blamed the Gang of Four! This is how the CCP seeks not to tarnish its image but constantly scapegoating somebody else! IT IS TIME TIBETANS LEARN TO SEE THE TRUE NATURE OF THE CCP AND THE MISERY IT BROUGHT TO THE TIBETAN PEOPLE AND FIGHT IT TOOTH AND NAIL INSTEAD OF SUCKING UP TO IT!!!

    1. A great piece. You should send this to international media, like the New York times, the Wall Street Journal or the London times. Unfortunately, people around the world are ignorant of the evils that the CCP has done. Your piece will definitely help them to understand what the CCP stand for!
Ji Li Jiang, author of Red Scarf Girl, says, “It was only after Mao’s death in 1976 that people woke up. We finally learned that the whole Cultural revolution had been part of a power struggle at the highest levels of the Party. Our leader had taken advantage of our trust and loyalty to manipulate the whole country.” This is a wake up call. The world must wake up! Free Tibet! Free East Turkistan! Free Inner Mongolia! Free Hong Kong! Up with the People!
