DHARAMSHALA, Nov. 7: The foremost exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama extended his congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his return to the White House for a second term following his victory in the U.S. presidential elections.

In his congratulatory message, the Dalai Lama expressed his enduring admiration for the United States, lauding it as a “champion of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law.” The octogenarian leader also highlighted the significant role the U.S. plays on the global stage, remarking, “The world places great hope in the democratic vision and leadership of the U.S.A. In these times of great uncertainty and upheaval in several parts of the world, it is my hope that you will provide leadership in bringing about peace and stability.”

Acknowledging the longstanding support of U.S. leaders for the Tibetan cause, the Dalai Lama conveyed gratitude for the American commitment to the preservation of Tibet’s Buddhist heritage, emphasising its universal values of “peace, non-violence, and compassion,” which he believes will offer benefits to humanity as a whole.

His Holiness concluded his message with a hopeful note for Trump’s upcoming term, writing, “I wish you every success in meeting the many challenges that lie ahead in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the American people and in contributing to peace in the world.”

Trump, 78, reclaimed the presidency on Wednesday by surpassing the 270 electoral college votes required to secure the win. His rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, garnered 226 electoral votes in a highly anticipated race.

As jubilant supporters chanted “USA” at his campaign headquarters in Florida, Trump took the stage alongside his wife Melania, and several of his children. Addressing the crowd, he declared, “We are going to help our country heal,” and described the outcome as “a political victory that our country has never seen before.”

  1. God bless Donald Trump. He’s the smartest and kindest in the world. I hope he helps Americans, and also disenfranchised human beings on the side during free time, not just Tibet but also others. Harris is so fake.

  2. I am a tibetan. I support Sir Donal donald trump of usa. Dalai? I think he is an okay kind of guy, but it looks like he oppresses Tibetans born in Tibet, like himself, in India, calling them new comers. That’s not cool. Even Chinese president Xi jiping will not accept recent new arrival as ‘ sanjor’ or newcomers into India. India belongs to india, not to tibetan refugees. This is a life an death situation how the situation is framed by governments.

Was there anny discrimination by Tibtan refugees against other Tibetans? Is 14 Dalai lama a victi of disccrimination because he is a newcomer to inida in 1959 as a 25 -year-old? Indian governments suspects any new arrival to their land if they arrivive there before age if 5. Dalai came, after meeting with chinese president Maozedong, at age 25, after a cordial meeting with Chinese president Mao Zedong in 1954. Normal or average Tibetans were against this Dalai back then. Think about it, it.
