Tibetan singer Nominated for Queensland Music Awards 2020

DHARAMSHALA, JAN 28: Tibetan singer Tenzin Choegyal has been nominated for the Queensland Music Awards 2020 set to take place in March this year. Apo Gaga, the Tibetan song written and sung by Tenzin Choegyal, has been nominated in one of the seventeen categories of the Queensland Music Awards, reports Tibetan Journal. The prestigious music award is supported by the local government which recognises various cultural heritages in the state.

From the seventeen categories, the Tibetan song has won four nominations in the category of World Music. Other categories include Pop, Rock, Hip-hop/Rap, Jazz and so on. Their band Tibet2Timbuk2 released their long awaited second CD in 2019 following their 2008 release Music is Life. The band features Tibetan vocalist Tenzin Choegyal with singer-songwriter Marcello Milani, Shen Findell (tabla) and Richard Grantham (Viola Cloning Project).

The Tibetan artist was born in Tibet and later escaped to India for exile. After his schooling from Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) in Dharamshala. He has since been engaged in performing unique Tibetan songs and performances. He also organises Tibet Festival annually to promote the Tibetan issue.
