Dharamsala, July 8, 2015: A senior Chinese official has accused the United States of supporting the “Tibetan Independence Force” despite maintaining a consistent status quo on Tibet being a Chinese territory.

“Some 100 years ago the US had stated publicly that Tibet is part of China. Even now it admits that Tibet is inseparable from China, yet the US supports Tibet independence forces,” Lu Guangjin , Director of the Human Rights Affairs Bureau of the Department of State Council Information Office, was quoted by IANS.

He further quipped, “Some people who ran away from China are now working together with some external forces to create destabilizing factors and obstruct people’s lives in China”, resonating a reference to the exiled Buddhist leader reviled by China as a ‘monk in wolf’s robes.’

When asked of the 140 Tibetans who have self immolated who demanded the return of Dalai Lama to Tibet and freedom in Tibet, he relayed it as a ploy incubated by “Tibet independence forces, attempted to obstruct the relay torch, causing anger among Chinese” during the 2008 Olympics in China.

Lu also hit out at the recent protests by Tibetans in Lausanne and Geneva against awarding the 20 Winter Olympics to China.

“Some people are creating trouble. There is an international website that supports Tibet’s independence and it submitted material to the IOC (International Olympics Committee) saying China’s human rights violations, particularly in Tibet, don’t qualify it to host the Winter Olympics.”Lu said.

On the celebrations of His Holiness’s 80th birthday around the world especially in the US, he alleged, “He is celebrating the birthday for a second time (July 6), this time in the US. In this, you see the influence of external factors”.
