DHARAMSHALA, May 16: The Tibetan speaker Penpa Tsering today presided over the inaugural ceremony of the 4th General Body Meeting of Tibetan People’s Movement for Middle Way at Toepa Kyidug Hall in Mcleod Ganj.

Speaker Penpa Tsering said that it is important to spread awareness about the ongoing situation inside Tibet and on Middle Way Approach among youth and students. He also called on the Tibetan People’s Movement for Middle Way to organize workshops, conference and discussions for youth.

“Our opposition is Chinese government, but what I am concerned about is that sometimes we spend more time creating disunity among ourselves than opposing Chinese government, and it appears that we are not putting our efforts in one direction, unclear of who our opposition is,” said Tsering.

He also added that in a democratic system, one can have different opinion and political ideologies but should not be mistaken in identifying our opponent.

Around fifty representatives from 19 regional chapters of Tibetan People’s Movement for Middle Way attended the meeting. The three day General body meeting will conclude on May 18.

The meeting held every three year will discuss several issues including the situation inside Tibet, recently published China’s white paper on Tibet, awareness on Middle Way and also amendment to its working charter. The meeting will also elect new executive members on the last day.
