DHARAMSHALA, Feb, 25: The Central Tibetan Administration has announced the appointment of Tsewang Phuntso, the current Liaison officer for Latin America, as the first Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to South America.

The Tibet House, Brazil, will serve as the Office of Tibet for the continent of South America from 1 April 2015, said the official website of the Tibetan exile government, officially known as the Central Tibetan Administration.

A liaison office for the Latin America operated from the Office of Tibet, New York, which was moved last year to Washington D.C.

“there had been considerable deliberations to establish a separate office of Tibet for South America. Hence, the new Office of Tibet is being established,” a notification from the Kashag (Tibetan Cabinet) said.
