DHARAMSHALA, September 13: Amnye Machen Institute, a premiere Tibetan research centre today released six books by Tshewang Tamdin, a Gangtok based Tibetan who has served as additional secretary in the state government, at Hotel Tibet, here.
The six books are titled as Nostalgic poems of my birth place, a collection of alphabetical poems, poems of general interest, spiritual poems, Patriotic poems and short stories for children. Tashi Tsering, Director of Amnye Machen Institute edited the books.
Karma Monlam, former Additional Secretary of Department of Education launched the books. Secretaries of various departments of Tibetan government in exile who were also classmates of the writer and many other writers and researchers also attended the book launch.
“Although he had worked in Sikkim state government, he is very dedicated and had contributed a lot in preserving Tibetan culture and language,” said Karma Monlam.
Monalm also read selective sections from the book.
Tashi Tsering described Tamding as a well-respected and an excellent writer and researcher.
Tshewang Tamding has worked at Secretary level in Sikkim government. He has translated many books and writings from Tibetans into English and English into Tibetan. His writings have been also published in phayul newsletter in the past.
