Tibetan Deputy Speaker releases two new books

DHARAMSHALA, July 13: Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament in Exile, today released two Tibetan books by Beri Jigme Wangyal, a former member of the Tibetan Parliament, at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives.

The book launch was attended among others by Tibetan Parliamentarians, Tibetan writers and researchers.

Speaking at the book launch, Beri Jigme Wangyal who had published 21 books but had never organized an official book launch, said, “I hope these two new books can make the impact like the poetry from other nations that have the potential to change people’s soul.”

One of the books is a compilation of students’ notes during his teaching stint at Drepung Loseling monastery and Central Tibetan University, Varanasi while the other is a compilation of papers presented on at various meetings, conferences and workshops.

Khenpo Sonam Tenphel appreciated Beri Jigme for sharing his knowledge through his books and emphasized its importance. “In our society, he (Beri Jigme) has put lots of effort in reviving the Tibetan culture and tradition and I hope he continues to do so.”
