DHARAMSHALA, March 11: The 15th Tibetan Parliament in Exile today commenced its annual budget session in its newly constructed building that was earlier consecrated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The parliament will convene for twelve days from March 11 to 22.

In his opening address, Speaker Penpa Tsering said that it is important for the Tibetan legislators to work sincerely for the Tibetan people’s cause. “Till now, it went all well but we must strive to work harder and better in the future,” said Speaker Tsering.

The House also expressed its condolences to the families of two former parliamentarians, Gendun Jinpa and Geshe Lobsang Wangyal, who passed away between the last and current sessions.

The highest legislative organ of the Tibetan government in exile meets twice a year to enact laws, frame rules and regulations and issue policy decisions and monitor the finances activities of the Tibetan government in exile, which officially is known as the Central Tibetan Administration.
