ATLANTA – In the afternoon of 10 March 2011, the Atlanta Tibetan Community and American Tibet supporters undertook a peaceful rally to commemorate the 52nd Anniversary of the Tibetan People’s Uprising. Starting from the CNN Center, the procession walked past some of the most popular landmarks in Atlanta, including the Centennial Olympic Park, Bank of America Plaza, Fox Theatre, and Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, finally ending at the Colony Square.

The procession of seventy people was led by monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery Inc. and the Emory University, followed by Tibetans from the community, American supporters, SFT members, and 11 students from North Grand Valley University, who were visiting Atlanta for their spring break to do volunteering work at the Refugee Center. With dozens of Tibetan National flags fluttering in the chilly wind and their placards raised high, the protestors walked the 2.4 miles route chanting the ‘Generating Bodhichitta’ verse. His Holiness’ 10 March statements were distributed to interested onlookers.

At the Colony Square, the March 10 Statement was read both in Tibetan and English followed by the singing of the Tibetan National Anthem and Words of Truth.
