Tibetans and Tibet Support Groups pray for Jigme Norbu

Taipei: Taiwan Tibetan Association, RTYC, RTWA and Taiwan chapter for Students for free Tibet jointly organized a Prayer Service to mourn the untimely death of Mr.Jigme Norbu la. The prayer service was held at the prayer hall of Tibet Religious Foundation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Saturday. About 100 Tibetans and Taiwanese supporters joined the prayer service. Geshe Jampal Chozin led the prayer service and offered lamps before portrait of Jigme Norbu la.

Just in December last year, Jigme Norbu la had led a long march in Taiwan for the independence of Tibet, in conjunction with Taiwan chapter for Students for free Tibet, Taiwan Tibetan Association, Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Regional Tibetan Women’s Association, Taipei Association for the promotion of Women’s Rights and Taiwan Friends of Tibet.

Mr.Dachompa, the President of Tibetan Association expressed his sadness and shock at the tragic and untimely death of Jigme Norbu la. He also recalled his meeting with Jigme la during the walk for Tibet in Taiwan and described him as patriotic Tibetan who gave up his life for the independence of Tibet. Mr. Dachompa also said that it is now responsibility of Tibetans to accomplish the task that Jigme la had left behind.

Mr.Tashi Tsering from RTYC and Ms.Dolma Tso, President of RTWA, Ms.Chow Mei Li, President of Taiwan Friends of Tibet, Ms. Xiao Rong, President of students for free Tibet also offered their respects and condolences to the bereaved family of late Jigme Norbu la.

Most of the 13 walkers who have participated in the Walk for Tibet with Jigme la in December were also present and paid their last respects to him. Later the organizers screened slide pictures of walk for Tibet in Taiwan.
