Dharamsala, October 15: Sharing his thoughts and recounting memories of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Indian Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev said yesterday that the Tibetan leader, the Dalai Lama does not belong only to Tibetans and Tibet, but to the entire world.

“The Dalai Lama, who works for the well being of the others, does not belong only to Tibet and Tibetans. He belongs to the entire world,” said Baba Ramdev.

The world famous Yoga Guru held a short session yesterday with the Tibetans at the Tsuglagkhang temple here imparting knowledge on the benefits of Yoga and talking about non violence, compassion and spirituality.

“Swami Ramdev was keen on meeting the Tibetans here in Dharamsala, specially the monks and nuns,” said Prime Minister Samdhong Rinpoche who attended the gathering.

“I would be very happy if His Holiness the Dalai Lama was present here today,” said Baba Ramdev, further adding that the Tibetan leader’s absence was somehow substituted by his disciples – the Tibetans present at the gathering- and the pristine beauty of Dharamsala.

The Dalai Lama is currently touring USA and later to Canada.
At the gathering, the celebrated Yoga Guru, whose yoga teachings are watched by millions on television channels and internet, taught a few breathing exercises to the Tibetan monks, nuns and lay people present at the temple.

Tibetan Prime Minister Professor Samdhong Rinpoche had earlier in the day attended the inauguration of a 2 hour long Yoga session near the HP cricket stadium and addressed thousands of Yoga practitioners and enthusiasts gathered in the wee hours of the morning.

“Swami Ramdev has made a great realisation of the effectiveness of Yoga such as Pranayama (controlling prana or life force through the regulation of breathing exercises) in the interest of the humanity and peace in this world,” Rinpoche added.

The Yoga guru was honoured with a statue of Lord Buddha and ceremonial scarf by the Prime Minister at the session with the Tibetans at the temple.

The Yoga Guru is on a four-day visit to Himachal Pradesh where he will hold public gatherings in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Una districts of the state.
