New Delhi October 14 – Though doctors have already declared him fit, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will rest at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for a few more days, His Holiness’ secretary Chhime Rinzin Choekyapa told Voice of Tibet radio earlier today.

Doctors say there is no post surgical complications at all in His Holiness following the operation to remove gallstone, and that he is completely normal and fit to resume his activities, Choekyapa said.

“There is absolutely no need for well wishers and Tibetan public to worry about His Holiness’ condition as doctors have already given ‘green signal’ for him to resume his activities.“

“Doctors said His Holiness could in fact leave the hospital yesterday but it was His Holiness’ own wish to rest at the hospital itself rather than moving somewhere else to rest.”

“His Holiness sees no difference between taking rest at the hospital itself and moving to another location in Delhi for rest. So His Holiness has decided to stay at the hospital for another two or three days,” Choekyapa said.

His Holiness’ visit to Japan later this month and a few places in India on his return from Japan will take place as scheduled, he said. “Doctors say there is no need to change His Holiness’ schedule, and that he can resume his travel as planned.”

Various Indian dignitaries paid visits to His Holiness at the hospital to wish him good health over the past few days. India’s foreign secretary Shiv Shankar Menon met His Holiness yesterday.
