Dharamsala, April 10 – The official reception for the opening of ITSN South Asian Regional Coordination Office was organised this morning at the Gu-chu-sum conference hall at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Sonam Norbu Dagpo, secretary of the Department of Information & International Relations, Tibetan Government-in-Exile (TGiE), was the chief guest for this reception hosted on behalf of ITSN by Mr. Jamyang Dorjee, Co-Chair, ITSN and Mr. Tsering Choedup, Regional Coordinator South Asia. More than 20 representatives from various NGOs and media reporters attended this reception meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sonam Norbu Dagpo appreciated the efforts of Tibet Support Groups (TSG) who he says are the ‘fourth refuge’ for the Tibetans, following Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. He also made clear TGiE’s “inclusive” policy and equal status and recognition for all the TSGs as long as they work for the Tibetan cause.

Mr. Jamyang Dorjee spoke on behalf of ITSN. He gave briefing on the work of ITSN and general information on the coordinated campaign works undertaken by its member organisations, particularly on the three Campaign Working Groups — Olympics, Human Rights and Economic Rights campaign working groups. He also welcomed Tibetans’ participation in these campaign working groups.

The proceeding went more like a press conference with question and answer session following the briefings yet, it remained totally embedded in Traditional aspects of offering Khatak at the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama followed by the servings of Tibetan salted tea and sweetened rice to mark this august gathering.
