Chinese President Hu Jintao reached New Delhi last evening where demonstrations and protests only greeted this man. The protesters once again gathered here at Jantar Mantar this morning to condemn Hu’s visit to the State.
After a massive demonstration and chanting of various anti-china slogans, few young children displayed a street play which depicted the peaceful and serene lives of Tibetans before Chinese invasion and how the whole scenario took a miserable turn after that. There was a letter from a former Tibetan Youth Congress President and a well known Tibetan activist/writer, Mr. Lhasang Tsering who expressed his deep appreciation for the initiatives taken by the organizing team and the general masses for taking part in this protest. He further writes that if such solidarity and willpower is alive in the heart of Tibetans, Tibet will very soon see its destination.
On the other hand some Tibetans expressed their rage and wrath by burning down Chinese flags and Hu’s pictures. A replica of Chinese President Hu Jintao was also made which was later burned down to ashes.
‘The younger generaton as well as the youths of today must come forward and take the cause of Tibet as their primary responsibility which will definitely invoke a great revolution sometime down the line’, says Gyakpon Phuntsok Rinchen, Samyeling (MT) camp leader.
‘Education alone cannot fulfill Tibet’s freedom struggle but it remains an integral part of our battle. While we need more determination and commitment which can only intensify our fight for truth and justice’, feels Karma Sichoe, a Thanka painter and an activist who in the year 1998 sat for unto death Hunger strike at Jantar Mantar along Pawo Thupten Ngodup la, a 60-year old who doused himself with gasoline and lit himself on fire- a true hero who will always be remembered for his patriotism and sacrifice.
The protest terminated with thanks giving speech by Mr.Chemi Yungdung, President of National Democratic Party of Tibet (NDPT) to all the supporters of Tibet and people who have bestowed their good luck and donations from all parts of the world.
Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) continues with its forth day of Hunger Strike at Jantar Mantar which will continue till 23rd November. People who have come from Dharamsala, Dehradun and Pathlikul are expected to leave tonight.
