Tibetan Youth Congress has intensified its campaign against China’s Colonial Railway Lines in Tibet on 26th June 2006 at the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi. More than 50 members representing 7 regional chapters of TYC from northern India took part during the campaign. Six members who were led by Mr. Tsultrim Dorjee, General Secretary of TYC succeeded in climbing up the Embassy gate and managed to enter the Embassy premises despite heavy security around the Embassy. The frustrated Tibetan youths shouted anti – China slogans, burned the Chinese National Flags (One inside the premises and one outside), waved Tibetan National Flags in front of the Chinese Staffs who attempted to prevent them from climbing up the gate and the officials who declined to accept the memorandum.

Mr. Yeshi Kesang, Vice President of RTYC Dickyiling, who flamed the Chinese National Flag inside the compound, injured his right arm seriously while climbing up the embassy gate. He was pulled and Lathi charged by the Indian police from outside and hit roughly by some Chinese staffs while he was climbing up the railing. Five nuns from Domaling Nunnery (Dharamsala) were also hurt and injured.

All 5O Members were detained at Chanakya Puri Police Station on 26th June 2006 and later taken to the Special Executive Magistrate, Parliament Police Station after their routine medical check up at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The Magistrate issued Jail Warrant under Section of Law U/S 107/151 Cr. PC and later in the evening all the arrested TYC Members were imprisoned in Tihar Jail. While exchanging words with them before they were sent to Tihar Jail, all the members unanimously requested not to get them out on bail and determined to carry out any kind of activities within Tihar Jail under the direction of TYC Centrex Members.

On 27th June, when TYC Information Secretary met the Police Authorities to discover further developments of the case. It was learnt that, the Chinese authorities from the Embassy have lodged a Complaint to the Minister of External Affairs. The MEA pressurized the Ministry of Homes, which filed an enquiry against some on duty police authorities and staffs. Authorities are very much concerned about the enquiry which might result in their suspension. On the same day when some of our members surveyed the Embassy site, they found more than hundred policemen guarding the Chinese Embassy and barricades have been surrounded the Embassy gates. From our reliable sources, it was learnt that three people have been detained on 27th morning while climbing up from the Chinese Embassy Boundary and the message contained by the police wireless was that “Three Tibetans have been detained while trying to climb up the embassy premises”. But later it was learnt that they were some embassy workers.
