Dharamsala, June 25: The Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama, though enjoys immense popularity worldwide but his following amongst the foreign women tourist is growing. This year there more number of women followers arrived at the abode of Dalai Lama to attend six day long teaching on the Bodhisattvas way of Life’.
Dalai Lama, who returned recently after attending a Nobel laureate conference at Petra in Jordan today delivered his teachings, organized on the request of Taiwanese University, Bliss and Wisdom.
A group of 300 students have come from Taiwan to attend the teachings of Dalai Lama. Particularly participants form five major countries including Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore, are attending his teaching besides score of tourist have arrived here from 40 different countries, to seek spiritual guidance from Dalai Lama.
The Dalai Lama who enjoys mammoth popularity throughout the world his non-violent struggle for settlement of vexed Tibetan issue has more number of women followers. On the first day of his teaching the woman devotees outnumbered the male followers. The figures at the foreign registeration office suggest the change in the trend this year. Till now, as many as 390 women have sought permission for attending the teachings of Dalai Lama.
“I had read a spiritual book written by Dalai Lama, that has a long lasting impression on my mind, so I decided to attend the preaching of his holiness” says 33 year old research scholar, Matusumi from Japan.
The Dalai Lama gives teachings throughout the year at various times and in different places. Tibetan leader also gives public talks, which are generally free and open to the public.
In February each year, the Dalai Lama gives his annual spring teachings called Monlam teachings at the Main Temple in Dharamsala. These teachings usually last for a period of 15 days and are officially translated into English.
