Dharamshala, March 18 – Representatives of Tibetan youth Congress, Students for a Free Tibet (India) and Friends of Tibet India today submitted a memorandum to Mr. Shyam Saran, Foreign Secretary, government of India when he visited Dharamshala. In the memorandum, the three organizations requested the Foreign Secretary to take up the Tibetan issue with Chinese president Hu Jintao who is to visit India this may. They also requested Mr Saran “not to compromise on their stand on Tibet, while talking to China in the series of border talks”.
Mr. Saran was in Dharamshala as apart of protocol to meet with Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama, said an official from the Tibetan exile government. During his stay, he also met with the Tibetan Prime Minister Prof Samdhong Rinpoche and the Karmapa. The Indian dignitary visited the Norbulingka Institute, and in the evening, the artists from Tibetan Institute for Perfoming Arts entertained Mr. Saran and his family along with other senior Tibetan and Indian dignitatries with a presentation of traditional Tibetan dance and songs.
