Dharamshala, May 10 – The Department of Information and International Relations today launched a pictorial book on Tibet titled “Tibet at a Glance”. Compiled and edited by the department’s museum section, the book is a part of an educational project made possible by Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.
According to Dorjee Thinley, the Director of the Tibet Museum, the book gives a quick introduction to Tibet with beautiful pictures. “We have used the photographic archives of the Tibet Museum and compiled facts and statistics on Tibet to inform readers and researchers about “the roof of the world” and the Tibetan Diaspora,” says Thinlay.
The book provides photographs of the breathtaking beauty of Tibet’s landscape and architecture combined with historical facts and geographical statistics.
He says that the book will especially be useful for children and people who know little or nothing about Tibet.
“It will be an easy reading for all age groups.”
The book contains brief information on Tibetan Diaspora, flag, anthem, religious traditions, monasteries, mountains, lakes and rivers etc.
The book will be sent to all Tibetan schools in India, Nepal and Bhutan for free.
