ITFS Kullu hold seminar on Tibet

May 2 – India Tibet Friendship Society, Kullu headed by Shri Shiv Chand Thakur, President for the first time organized a seminar on Tibet called ‘China’s occupation on Tibet and its effect on Himalayan region’ at Shobla Hotel in Kullu.

The seminar was participated by 100 local people mostly Indian Buddhist and Chairman of Tibetan Local Assembly, President of TYC and TWA and few students of CST Bhuntar.

Meeting began with lighting of lamp in front of the portrait of H.H the Dalai Lama, which followed by the singing of Indian and Tibetan National anthem. Shri Shiv Chand Thakur ji welcome all the participants and formally introduce the Chief Guest Col. Prem Chand, a mountaineer who is popularly known as Tiger of Himalaya. He was honored with various awards and medals.

ITFS President spoke on the historical background of Tibet, its relation with India and Security threat from Chinese side.

Mr. Karma Sengye, Tibetan Welfare Officer, Kullu requested ITFS to organize more such seminar in the region. Since, most of the local people are Indian Buddhist (Garshawa) who had always supported the cause of Tibet and Tibetans.

‘Many Tibetan scholars visited India to study Sanskrit and Buddhist religion. Like wise many Indian from Lahaul and Spiti also visited Tibet to learn curving of stone and wood sculpture. We are very thankful to Tibetan that they kept our rich Buddhist religion alive’ said Shri Bholu Ram who did research work on Tibetan and Sanskrit script.

Shri Tsering Dorje a Buddhist scholar said, “Farmer of Kullu region has already experienced the deficit caused in the vegetable trade after the introduction of Chinese Garlic and Onion. So, people of India must keep distant relation with the China. China will never support the India in any field.”

Assistant Coordinator of India Tibet Coordination Office, Mr. Tenzin Dawa thanking all the participants. He spoke elaborately on the present condition of Tibetan inside Tibet, development inside Tibet, which are meant for selfish interest of Chinese themselves, he touched the latest issue of Chinese Water Bomb (Pareechu lake) which had terrified whole of Himachal Pradesh. He has also sensed the danger of Chinese soldier creeping in to the Western sector of Tibet bordering India, which will take no time to transport the heavy artilleries and connect the supply line directly with the main land once the famous Gormo- Lhasa railway line will be completed. In the conclusion he dwell further the importance of non-violence struggle also.

Shri Prem Chand ji Chief Guest of the meeting said, “ I will never consider Tibetan people being different from me. Their problems is our problem, we the people of Lahaul & Spiti should come first in support of Tibetan. Tibetan and people of Himalaya are considered underdeveloped, but we are developed spiritually and morally from inside. We should thank Tibetan for keeping our religion alive” He had also promise that he will always be with the people of Tibetan.

In the meeting Tibet related literatures were distributed among the participants.
