New Delhi, January 27 – With the Mid-Northern Regional qualifying round soccer tournament organised by RTYC, Delhi came to ground finale yesterday. The formidable Delhi’s “Chosum United FC” took the title by a easy lead of 3-0 against the fury Budh Vihar, Delhi. This years tournament was held at Rohini park, Delhi which was well attented by spectators mainly comprising of Tibetan from all parts of the city.
The tournament was organised under the umbrellaship of Tibetan National Football Association (TNFA) in which six different regional teams comprising of RTYC Chandigarh, RTYC Shimla took participation. Cholsum United FC after striking rich in the last Gelyum Chenmo Memorial Gold Cup (GCMGC) tournament continued from where there left last year winning this years Mid-Northern Regional qualifying round has been qualified for the forthcoming GCM tournament to be held in Dharamsala this June.
Captain Kechok in his upbeat mood said “We are going to make a blitzkrieg this summer at GCM tournament. The team mainly consisting of University Tibetan students are involved in daily strenuous practice session”. Manager Wang-Norbu claim the team members are highly motivated and skilled players yet the club zeal has been dogged by lack of financial resources. Till now the players themselves have been shelving pie from their little pocket money into the teams fund but that according to Wang-Norbu would change if the things planned would goes on well. The club intends to overcome this drawback by organising later this month a fund raising concert here in Delhi.
