South African Friends of Tibet
In a letter received today, 14th January, South African Cardinal Wilfrid Napier pledged Roman Catholic Support for the Tibetan Cause. The Letter was addressed to the Christian Friends of Tibet, a support group aimed at gaining increased Christian support for the Tibetan people,which is currently working under the auspices of the South African Friends of Tibet.
The Cardinal Napier’s letter said “Further to your meetings and discussions with representatives of the Southern African Bishops’ Conference (SACBC) and the representation made on your behalf to the November 2003 SACBC Administrative Board meeting held in Pretoria, I am pleased to inform you that the SACBC endorses the work of the Christian Friends of Tibet in South Africa to promote and defend religious and cultural freedom and other human rights for the Tibetan people and lends its support, when possible, to this cause.”
