Raipur – Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama said on Wednesday that the Ayodhya issue involves “too much of politics and emotions” and the “master key” to solve it lies in the country’s “tradition of religious tolerance”.
“I am optimistic about solving Ayodhya problem because in the whole world, India is the only country with centuries old tradition of religious tolerance. Here all religions live together, something impossible in outside world,” he told reporters here during a brief stopover.
The Dalai Lama said “unfortunately in few cases, some concerned people have politicised and used such issues. Hence after people related to Ayodhya showed some positive feeling, I thought there is a possibility of solving the problem. But basically India has strong tradition of religious tolerance and that is the master key to solve the issue”.
The Ayodhya issue involves “too much of politics and emotions because of which I was hesitant to touch it earlier,” he said. However, the spiritual leader said he did not have any “proposal or agenda” to solve the issue at present. He said “after reaching Delhi and Dharmashala and having talks with my ‘Buddhist brother’ S.N. Goenka some new ideas may come”.
The Dalai Lama was on way to Mainpat of Sarguja district in Chhattisgarh to visit the Tibetan settlement there. During his brief stopover here, he had a discussion with Chief Minister Raman Singh about the problems of the local people.
