Tibetans and their friends in Belgium gathered to celebrate the awarding of Nobel Peace Prize to H. H. the Dalai Lama

Over two hundred fifty Tibetans and their Belgian friends gathered in Antwerpen on 13th December 03 to celebrate the awarding of Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The celebration function was organized by the Tibetan community in Belgium in consultation with the Bureau du Tibet.

The function started with long life prayer for His Holiness the Dalai Lama led by the Buddhist monks and offering of scarves to His Holiness’ portrait. Mr. Migyur Dorjee from the Bureau du Tibet, Brussels and Mr. Lhakpa Tsering Yontsang President of the Tibetan community spoke on the occasion.

Mr. Dorjee while narrating the achievements of His Holiness in leading the Tibetan freedom struggle through peace and non-violence said that Hi Holiness is no more only our leader. He is one of the leaders of the world to whom the international community look for wisdom and advices in order to create a better and more peaceful world to live in for the entire humanity. Mr. Dorjee also dealt in great length about the importance of preserving unique Tibetan culture, religious and language among the community.

The speeches were followed by Tibetan dances and songs performed by the cultural group of the Belgian Tibetan community. Later the Tibetans and their Belgian friends joined in performing traditional dances (Gorshe) and other dances and songs to mark the happy occasion.
