ICT Berlin Opens May 9

Dharamsala April 17 – The International Campaign for Tibet, one of the most active international organisations working for Tibet, has started its third branch in Berlin, Germany. Based in Washington, the International Campaign for Tibet is run by a board of Directors chaired by Hollywood actor Richard Gere. The other branch office of the organisation is in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The inaugural function of Germany branch will take place on the May 9, 2003. Gracing the occasion as its guest of honour, Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, the Kalon Tripa, will address the gathering on “Tibet and its Future”.

The inaugural day will also feature talks by Kasur Lodi G. Gyari, Special Envoy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, John Ackerly, President of the ICT, Tsering Jampa, Director of ICT Europe and Wolgang Grader, Chairman of the Board of Tibet Initiative, Germany.

A video documentary on Panchen Lama, the youngest political prisoner, who will have just turned fourteen on April 25 and whose whereabouts unknown, will also be played at the function.

Dr. Gudrun Henne, Director of ICT, Germany, will head the new branch.
